About the library
The library is located on the ground floor of the school and covers an area of 600 square metres. The library also includes a reading room with 30 seats, where students and staff can retreat from the daily hustle and bustle. Computer stations are also available for students to study, search for information online, and work on seminar papers and research assignments.
The collection comprises more than 30,000 items, organized according to the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) system. An extensive collection of domestic and foreign periodicals is also available. The library is a full member of the COBISS system.
The library, in collaboration with the school’s subject departments, we ensure the smooth acquisition of book and non-book materials. In addition to cataloguing materials and handling loans, we are also actively involved in the entire educational process. We facilitate interdisciplinary connections, teach library and information skills, conduct biblio-pedagogical sessions, organize exhibitions and cultural events, and participate in various school projects.

Library rules
Approved at the School Board meeting on September 29, 2005 9. 2005
1. Mission of the school library
The school library provides services to all members of the school community on an equal basis, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, language, religious affiliation, or social status. Special services are provided to users with special needs.
2. Membership
All students and staff are members of the school library. Students become members upon enrolment in school.
3. Card
A valid student ID card is used in the library for identification and services. In the event that a student does not have a student ID card, they may, as an exception, use another official valid document bearing their name and photo.
4. Borrowing and renewing library materials
Borrowing materials is free of charge, except for interlibrary loans. Users may borrow materials to take home or use in the reading room.
The following may be borrowed for home use:
• Books for 1 month; in exceptional cases (home reading, reading competitions) for 14 days.
• Serial publications for 1 week (except for the latest issue, which is available for use in the reading room).
• Non-book materials for 1 day.
On-site or reading room borrowing refers to borrowing for the current day for use on school premises (in the library, in the classroom, etc.). The student must return this material on the same day. In exceptional cases, they may borrow it to take home, but only after the end of the 7th period (after 2:10 PM), and are required to return it the next business day before classes begin (by 8:00 AM). If there are multiple copies of the same item in the reading room collection, users may borrow a copy for a few days by arrangement.
Interlibrary loan is available to all external users through any registered library. We do not lend textbooks, books for home reading, rare, or antiquarian materials via interlibrary loan.
Materials may be renewed if there is no other request for them, as follows:
• book materials for 2 weeks, except for assigned reading,
• serial publications for 1 week,
• non-book materials for 1 day.
Loan periods are shortened accordingly at the end of the school year, when users are generally required to return materials by the end of classes. By agreement, users may also borrow materials for the duration of the summer vacation.
5. Library opening hours
The reading room is open every school day from Monday to Thursday from 7:00 to 17:00, and on Friday until 15:00, except in exceptional cases (due to the absence of librarians). During these hours, materials may be borrowed for use in the reading room or taken home, and returned.
Home loans and the return of materials borrowed for home use are available from 10:00 to 15:00.
In the first half of September, due to the distribution of textbooks from the school textbook fund, the library is open according to an adjusted schedule. During this time, users may return materials borrowed for the summer break, and borrowing is limited exclusively to textbooks from the school textbook fund.
6. Fines
The library charges a fine for materials returned late according to the current late fees price list.
Users are required to pay any incurred fees before borrowing materials again or within two weeks at the latest.
7. Care and handling of library materials and equipment
Users are expected to use and care for materials properly. If a material is damaged, the user must notify the librarian at the time of borrowing or as soon as possible if the damage is not immediately apparent.
Users are required to tidy up and organize their workspace; books must be returned to the shelf among the others or placed at the end of the shelf so that the librarians can put them away..

School staff may, in the presence of a third person, verify that a library user is only removing from the library materials that they brought with them or have borrowed. Removing library materials that have not been checked out is a violation of the Library rules.
8. Conduct in the library
The library is intended for teaching, learning, reading, searching for information from various sources, reading magazines and other reading materials, checking email, and socializing.
Playing computer games, playing cards, and eating are prohibited in the library.
Library visitors are expected to maintain order and silence.
There is a coat rack at the library entrance where visitors may hang coats, umbrellas, bags, and similar items. They take out of their bags only what they need for work in the library and reading room.
The use of mobile phones in the library or reading room is prohibited.
9. Use of computers
Computers are intended for checking email, editing texts, and searching for information from various sources, and not for playing computer games.
School textbook fund
The school textbook fund provides all textbooks selected by our teachers as required for classes, with the exception of workbooks for Slovenian and foreign languages.
Textbooks are selected and ordered every June for the following school year. Prospective first-year students do this upon enrolment. Students receive their textbooks in the last 3 days before classes begin, according to a pre-announced schedule, so they can start the school year equipped with the necessary materials. A rental fee, set by the school (up to a maximum of 1/3 of the purchase price), must be paid for borrowed materials.
We strive to keep the textbooks in good condition, so we expect all students to refrain from writing in them and to take good care of them. If they return a textbook that is too damaged, they must pay compensation.
There are no workbooks in the textbook fund. However, we do have some collections of exercises (e.g., for math, physics).
All students who register on time using the online form will receive their textbooks.
Students receiving a state lunch subsidy may request a (partial) waiver of the textbook fee.
